Terms of Service
Last updated November 6, 2026
By creating an account, using Where I've Golfed in anonymous mode, or otherwise accessing the app, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
Who can use this
Where I've Golfed is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly allow anyone under 13 to create an account. If you're old enough in your jurisdiction to agree to binding terms on your own behalf, you can use the Service.
The Service
Where I've Golfed lets you log golf courses you've played or want to play, organize them into trips, track stats about your golfing history, and optionally connect with friends to compare and share. You can use core logging features without an account ("anonymous mode"); creating an account adds cloud backup, multi-device sync, and the Friends feature.
Course data (names, locations) is sourced from Google Places when you search for and select a course. We don't independently verify the accuracy of that third-party data, and course details can change over time without the app reflecting that immediately.
Your account
You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account; see our Privacy Policy for exactly what happens to your data when you do.
Your content
You own what you upload or create. Courses you log, notes, ratings, trip details, and photos you upload remain yours.
The license you grant us. By uploading or creating content in the app, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and display that content solely to operate and provide the Service to you — including showing it to friends you've connected with where the app's features do so, and generating shareable images (like your Passport Card) when you explicitly choose to share them. This license ends when you delete the specific content or your account, except for content already shared by you outside the app, or residual copies in routine backups purged on the retention schedule described in our Privacy Policy.
We don't use your content for advertising, don't sell it, and don't license it to third parties for their own purposes. This license exists only so we can run the app you're using.
What you're responsible for. You confirm that you either own or have permission to upload any photo you add, and that you have permission from any identifiable person in a photo to share their image (or that it was taken somewhere they had no reasonable expectation of privacy). We do not strip EXIF/location metadata from uploaded photos.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, or other rights
- Upload content that is unlawful, harassing, or depicts a minor in a way that violates child-protection laws
- Use the Service to harass, impersonate, or abuse another person
- Attempt to access another user's account without authorization
- Scrape, reverse-engineer, or extract data from the Service outside of its normal use
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service's infrastructure
Copyright policy (DMCA)
We respond to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
To submit a takedown notice, send our designated agent (contact below) a written notice including: a signature of the copyright owner or someone authorized to act for them; identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed; identification of the material you claim is infringing and where it's located in the app; your contact information; a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized; and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you're authorized to act on the copyright owner's behalf.
If your content is taken down and you believe that was a mistake, you may submit a counter-notification with your signature, identification of the removed material and where it appeared, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification, your contact information, and a statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the applicable federal court and accepting service of process.
Repeat infringers. We will terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are repeat infringers.

Our intellectual property
The Where I've Golfed name, logo, and app design belong to us. These Terms don't grant you any right to use them outside of using the app as intended.
Third-party services
The Service uses Google Places (course search), Mapbox (maps), Apple (Sign in with Apple, app distribution), and Supabase (backend infrastructure). We aren't responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of these third-party services.
Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account from Profile → Delete Account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms. We'll make reasonable efforts to notify you first except where we believe immediate action is needed.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that course data sourced from third parties is accurate or current.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the greater of $50 or the amount you've paid us in the past 12 months.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim arising from your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be surfaced in-app before they take effect.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Illinois, and you consent to that jurisdiction.
